Meghan Shea, a Name to Remember

Moraine Valley commemorated Sustainability Day this week with various events. Our response to sustainability on campus is important, and we always need to keep an awareness about the earth’s resources and how we can successfully live here.

So what about Meghan Shea? On page 60 of the November issue of Popular Mechanics, Meghan is credited with finding a no-cost water filter by using moringa seeds (found in the tropics) and other common materials such as plastic bottles for the container and filtering materials such as fabric and charcoal. Interestingly, nearly 99% of E. coli bacteria can be removed.

Oh, I forget to tell you. Meghan is 18 years old.
