John Muir and Earth Day

John MuirEarth Day is a fairly modern invention in the US, but the movement to protect and conserve our environment stretches back throughout US history. When reviewing this history, one cannot miss John Muir, who is a larger than life figure. He was originally from Wisconsin, but soon became a wanderer who ended up in California. He was at one time a botanist  explorer, guide, writer, and environmental advocate.

You can find many of his book for free from Project Gutenberg: Books by John Muir.

You can also find several books about John Muir in our library’s collection.
