Andrew McCollum, Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, Chris Hughes. Of these names, most of us recognize Mark Zuckerberg. All five are considered founders of Facebook which was initially called The Facebook, and they were classmates at Harvard.
Just a year before this, Mark created a program called FaceMash, a website used to present two female students and to choose the “nicer” of the two. This last effort was not really a prototype, but a smarmy college boy’s “prank website”, according to Mark Zukerberg.
Facebook was “born on” February 4, 2004. Now at sweet sixteen, it is still going strong – not bad for a social website originally intended for Harvard!
