If you missed the last couple of film blog posts, I’m dedicating the month of March to European films. As you may have already guessed, Le Dîner de cons (1998) or The Dinner Game, as it’s known in English, is a French film and is our featured film of the day. The Dinner Game is about a prominent group of business men that invite idiots to dinner. During the course of dinner, they ridicule their “guests” and decide who is the champion dinner idiot. If you’re looking for a comical film, I would highly recommend it.
If the premise of Le Dîner de cons sounds familiar, it might be because you’ve heard of or seen the remake. This film was recently remade and renamed Dinner for Schmucks (2010) for an American audience. Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis all star in this remake.
As always, I’m including a trailer of The Dinner Game below for your review.
Unfortunately, we don’t have Dinner for Schmucks here at the library, but if you’re interested in seeing it, I’m including a trailer below.
