Today in Filmblogland, I’m bringing the first of many documentaries on how food is produced and sold in the United States. According to Food, Inc. (2009), farming in the United States isn’t what it used to be. Nowadays, animals raised for food don’t even go outside, so can it still be called a farm? Food, Inc. takes a look at slaughter houses and factory farming to show you how your food gets from the factory farm to your table. In addition, they also take a closer look at who actually controls the industry of factory farming.
Some of the books that inspired the film are right here in our library. If you’d like to read from the experts that helped shape this film, take a look at these books below.
For more information on Food, Inc. and factory farming, I highly recommend you take a look at their website.
As always, I’m including a trailer for your viewing pleasure.
