“Failing Schools” are a myth. Why schools are better than ever!

I wanted to share this On the Media piece, “The Failure of ‘Failing Schools.'” This is an interview with Paul Fahri about his new article Flunking the Test in the American Journalism Review. He shows that over the last five or six decades American education has actually improved, but the common belief is that education has gotten worse.

Here is the description from the On the Media site: Schools are failing. At least that’s the consensus if you’ve read any school reporting or heard any politicians promising much needed school reform since, well, approximately the beginning of American public education. But … is it true? Washington Post reporter and columnist for the American Journalism Review Paul Farhi explains to Bob why the story doesn’t add up.
