Oscar winners and runner ups are always up for debate. I finished the Academy Awards with the satisfaction that Spike Lee won a long overdue Oscar. His film, Do the Right Thing (1989), is one of the most important and powerful films in American history. This is a movie you watch, encourage civil discourse on the difficult issues, and talk across political divides.
