In its effort to make access to government information easier and more transparent the Government Printing Office (GPO) has released a couple of apps for your mobile devices. The Congressional Record App, for iPad, harkens back to the GPO’s original 1861 mission 0f publishing the daily Congressional Record. Using the app you could, for instance, read how congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ emotional resignation was officially recorded.
For iPhone/iPad, Android, or Blackberry the GPO also created the Guide to House and Senate Members. 
Based on the data in the Congressional Pictorial Directory, this app allows you to browse for your Member of Congress by name, state, or party. So, if you hear a Congressperson speak on the news you can quickly find out who they are and what state they represent.
